# Why is my invoice in Action Required and what do I do?

An invoice moves into **Action Required** when Effra needs some information from you before we can submit it to the insurer.

Open the invoice and look at the Action Required message. This will explain what is needed and, wherever possible, allow you to resolve the issue directly from the invoice.

Common examples include:

* **Missing or invalid patient insurance details** — for example, a policy number or pre-authorisation number needs to be added or corrected.
* **A billable item needs to be configured** — select the appropriate procedure so Effra knows how the line item should be submitted.
* **Provider information is missing** — the practitioner or provider may need additional details before we can bill the insurer.

Remember, if you add or update details in the PMS invoice, you will need to **re-sync** the invoice in Effra for it to update.

Once the issue has been resolved, Effra will automatically continue processing the invoice.

If you’re unsure what to do, leave a comment on the invoice and tick **Send to Effra support**.
